Paul B. Helliwell

April 25, 1917 - November 21, 2001

Born to missionary parents (Dr. Paul Vaughan Helliwell and Ellie Henrietta Helliwell), on April 25, 1917 in Queitech, Honan Province, China, Paul Bernard Helliwell was a thoughtful and caring man who could best be described as an entrepreneur, visionary, mentor, humanitarian, philanthropist, sailor, animal lover, beloved husband and brother. After serving in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War, he started a career in the banking industry and went on to own several manufacturing firms with Neta, his wife and partner, at his side. They were married for almost fifty years before her passing in 1985. Several years later, Paul married June and they shared ten wonderful years together.

An avid sailor, he was a long-time boat owner and member of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Throughout his life Paul gave generously to many charitable causes, following his belief of giving something back to the community in which he lived. Although never a father himself, he was a father figure to many. Paul was loved by his family, friends, those who knew him, and those that had the pleasure of working with him. Being a true philanthropist, Paul left the bulk of his estate to the Paul B. Helliwell Foundation which continues to benefit worthy causes long after his final sail.

Thanks to the generosity and financial support of the Paul B. Helliwell Foundation, Canadian Veterans will benefit from this tiny home which it has funded.

Forever Remembered, Forever Honoured.
